{"id":839,"date":"2024-03-01T11:00:37","date_gmt":"2024-03-01T11:00:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.advancedrms.co.uk\/web\/?p=839"},"modified":"2024-03-01T11:14:49","modified_gmt":"2024-03-01T11:14:49","slug":"acwa-power-qipp-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.advancedrms.co.uk\/web\/acwa-power-qipp-success\/","title":{"rendered":"ACWA Power &#8211; QIPP Success!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The initial roll-out of ACWA Power\u2019s Safety Culture Programme at QIPP, an operational Power Plant in the East of Saudi Arabia has been successfully completed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">This is the first and most important step that ACWA Power are taking in shaping a strong, positive safety culture for the future. The organisation is tackling six key attitudes to help everyone understand how easily we can fall into the trap of unnecessary risk taking. These attitudes are described as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Necessary Rule breaking \u00a0&#8211; \u201cI sometimes need to break the rules to get the job done\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Sense of control \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0&#8211; \u201cWith the correct training I would not take risks\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Complacency \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0-\u201cIf I do something regularly it is easier to see the risks\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Lack of influence \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 &#8211; \u201cHuman error leads to most accidents\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Poor hazard perception \u00a0 \u00a0&#8211; \u201cI only take risks when I think it is not dangerous\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>Fatalism \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0&#8211; \u201cSometimes accidents just happen\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Following the roll-out at QIPP this is what the management line achieved and had to say;<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0Site Senior Leaders<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cUsefulness of the Workshop\u201d \u2013 90% (4.5\/5) average rating<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2018Attitude shift\u2019: 53% average positive attitude shift.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Site Middle Managers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cUsefulness of the Workshop\u201d \u2013 98% (4.9\/5) average rating<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2018Attitude shift\u2019: 65% average positive attitude shift.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Frontline Leaders<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cUsefulness of the Workshop\u201d \u2013 86% (4.3\/5) average rating<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2018Attitude shift\u2019: 56% average positive attitude shift.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">With such a dramatic shift in safety attitudes it really does demonstrate how easily, as intelligent human beings, we can be fooled into thinking quite negatively about such important issues needed to keep ourselves and others safe.
